Bug Description

Firefox used to stop animations (like animated GIFs) when the escape key was pressed. This capability seems to be missing from recent versions of Firefox. Please restore it.

Currently there are some partial work-arounds by editing about:config's image.animation_mode which can have values of normal (default), once, none. However, none of those provide the functionality of being able to stop the animation on demand, whether after a fraction of a second or after a few minutes.

What should happen is (barring changes to image.animation_mode) that Firefox should show the animation but then stop it if and when Escape is pressed.

I thought that was ONLY ME!
While I was watching some videos (browser based), whenever I press "ESC", it does nothing. I have to press Alt+F4 to close the FULL SCREEN. Before, ESC was doing the trick. Now, it does not. Not sure if this the same issue we are talking about here?

If an example is needed, here is a page with an animation that won't stop:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eris_%28dwarf_planet%29

The second image just cycles continuously regardless of pressing Esc or not.
