firefox crashes after downloading mp3 file
When I downloaded mp3 file (right button click -> save target as) and doubleclicked finished task on "Download Statusbar 0.9.4.6" Beep Media Player opened and started playing the song but after few seconds firefox just disappeared. There were few tabs opened, one with acroread plugin, right before I had closed tab with mplayer plugin.
I've got Firefox 2.0.0.3 with following extensions:
Download Statusbar 0.9.4.6
Favicon Picker 2 0.3.4.1
FireFTP 0.95.2
Gmail Space 0.5.6
Tab Mix Plus 0.3.5.2 (single window mode activated)
User Agent Switcher 0.6.9
Web Developer 1.1.3

Thank you for the bug report.

Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on
[1], or upload the crash report that probably was generated during the crash
and that should be located at /var/crash/ to [2]. Also, Indicate which
extensions/plugins do you have enabled, and please if this crash is
reproducible describe the steps that lead to it. This will greatly aid us in
tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance

I'd like to upload crash report but I can't - every time I try I get "internal server error" after about 15 minutes (just before finishing the upload)... I'll try again later.

Thank you for your feedback.

Maybe there is a temporal failure in launchpad.net; I'm going to assign
your bug to myself so as soon as you post the crash report I'll retrace
it.

Looks more a gnome fail than firefox.

Is the crash reproducible?

Yes, it is reproducible but this time I noticed something I missed last time.
When I download good mp3 file (save target as) and run it from Download Statusbar everything is OK, but if I download mp3 from broken link ('save target as' saves webpage with 404 error as mp3 file) and run it a new tab with mplayer plugin opens (of course nothing happens, because the file is not real mp3) and then if I download mp3 from good source and run it (as always doubleclick on Download Statusbar) the crash comes again - BMP is playing the song, firefox disappears and crash report is beeing created.

I'm going to upgrade to Feisty soon, so if there is anything else I could do on Edgy please tell me about it. :)

Possible test case from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/107527/comments/9

1. Right click in a *broken* remote mp3 file link, select "save link as"...
2. In the downloads window, try to open the bad.mp3 file (mplayer plugin should open, but as it just an html file (claiming a 404 Not Found error)) nothing happens
3. Repeat 1. and 2. with a good mp3 file link. Firefox crashes.

Note:
I've tried to reproduce it in feisty with totem plugin and vlc and it didn't crash.

Hello Mariusz,

Can you still being able to reproduce this issue?

We are trying to sort this issue and would like to know if this still happens.

If it can be reproduced, please confirm the steps to do it.

Thanks in advance.

this bug never retrieved any dupes. there have been fixes in gnome_vfs that might have fixed this. safe to close imo.
