Bug Description
When you use File|Open File or File|Save Page As in Firefox, you get a gtk filechooser window. There are a series of bookmarks on the left that are shared by Nautilus and other filechoosers within the desktop. At first glance, everything looks ok, but missing among the bookmarks are the Network (gvfs) shares.
Network shares show up at least two different ways in Nautilus. When you mount a network share, a link will show up under the Network pane that allows you to quickly browse to it. You can also make an explicit bookmark to a network share that will show up under the Bookmarks pane. Neither of these show up in the Firefox filechooser.
You can browse directly to a mounted network share by
1) showing hidden files
2) going to the .gvfs directory
3) and clicking on the mounted file share
From a usability perspective, this is obviously not desirable. There are various workarounds, but it would be best if the filechooser could handle the bookmarks in the same way as Nautilus for UI consistency. There is also no way to mount an unmounted network share from within the filechooser.
I know part of the reason is because Firefox uses gtkfilechooser, and Nautilus uses gnomefilechooser, but it seems like something that the firefox-
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
