firefox running slower than that of my 20kb mobile internet.

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

I am using Nokia GSM mobile and compaq515 laptop with Ubuntu9.10 Netbook version. My mobile has 20-25kb(approx.) of mobile internet speed. But it seems to be that firefox v3.5.3 running slower that of my mobile internet connection. 5-10kb(approx)
Is there any way to increase the speed of the browser or to update a newer version.
