firefox readds deleted search engines

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

My issue is the reverse of bug 428306. I don't want many of the default search engines and have deleted them several times, as they keep reappearing like bad pennies.

This issue has affected Firefox for many versions, including 3.6.
