can't erase redundent bookmarks

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

UBUNTU 9.10 Karmic Koala Oct .2009
Firefox 3.5.5+nobinonly

Following instructions from 'Help' I deleted some redundent bookmarks one by one. I expected this action to be permenant.

On relaunch of firefox, all deleted bookmarks had returned.
