Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Recently I am seeing random horizontal and/or vertical underlines on linked images in my Firefox. It is not consistent on websites and one image on a page may have the underlines while another sitting next to it, will not. They are quite obnoxious and unsightly.

I'm noticing now that it's not just images! Suddenly and for no reason as I've done nothing [added software, etc] there are lines all over websites. Links are underlined [and the option in ff is unchecked to have links underlined] images as well as random text links and also there are background lines on websites that I frequent daily and know they are not web design faults. It's as if it's not reading code correctly. It's terrible!

I uninstalled FF from my software packages and then reinstalled it. No change. I installed another browser from my software pkgs to confirm it was FF and the issue was not in the other browser. This tells me it is a FF issue and not my computer. However, it is a Linux FF issue. I have windows on my laptop and use FF there as well and never had a problem like this. Can I use a non Linux FF and if so how do I install that? I'm attaching a screenshot of the link underline issue. You can see it on two of the items showing whereas the others do not have the underlines. Again too though, it is also underlining random text links as well. And again there it is not consistent.

I have figured out that it is a zoom problem. When my settings are so that my screen is zoomed out to a smaller text size [which is my preference] for some reason FF in Ubuntu is not reading it correctly and showing the image place holders (?) or linked lines, whichever it is but when I zoom in to a large size [which is very unsightly and overlaps images in my smaller monitor] the lines disappear. So it seems that Ubuntu just is not reading the resized screen correctly. And again, it is a Ubuntu FF issue as my FF in a Windows environment reads perfect at any screen size zoomed or not. Can this please be addressed and fixed? It's very annoying and undone. Thanks!
