Firefox 3.5 has problems with IBM Lotus 8.5 web mail interface

Firefox 3.5 seems to have all sorts of problems with IBM's Lotus sutie, sametime, sametime meetings, flickr etc. When accessing flickr 3.5 just exits without logs etc. on WINXP SP3. With Lotus notes email when using the web browser interface, FF 3.5 fails with

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

I have the same problem / erorr message when trying to access my company email.
Same results in a fresh account
I tried to access the lotus web interface using firefox / wine without success.
But: I also do have similar problems using Opera. Question: can the problem be related to java (JRE)?

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
