Can't open "Chat" window , non-responsive to mouse click

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Firefox add-ons loaded: Facebook Toolbar 1.4.2, Ubuntu Foxfire modifications 0.8

In attempting to open Facebook's chat window, I can highlight the area by moving onto "Chat" but nothing happens when the left mouse button is pressed. In the past (Ubuntu 9.4, Firefox 3.0) this mouse action would open another window where chat targets could be selected and then carried out.
