Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

When trying to restart Firefox after closing it down, it refuses to open and displays the following message: "firefox is already running but is not responding to open a new window you must first close ". I have either to kill Firefox through the systemanager or "killall firefox"-command. Don't know why

I have to report by Opera, as Firefox even does not allow to report the bug-report. And I feel sorry I cannot provide the technical bug report, as I cannot copy it in this text box.

I leave in Belgium and I need this device

problem only when above security device is loaded else no problem

I have the same problem, but it only seems to affect the profile I was using before I closed firefox. I can open other profiles from the profile manager (which I have set to pop up when I open firefox). It doesn't seem to happen if I use CTRL+Q rather than CTRL+W to quit.

For other people having this problem, it can be fixed by running "killall firefox" in the terminal. It's a workaround, but it is a bit of a pain.

This bug also prevents proper shutdowns.

If you try to shutdown your computer after Firefox has been "closed", the shutdown procedure will notify you that the Firefox process is active and ask you if you really want to shutdown the computer.

summary: - firefox won't open after being closed
+ Firefox does not really close (and cannot be reopened)
