Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Firefox 3.5 in Karmic Koala sometimes becomes unresponsive when auto scrolling. This mainly affects longer websites, and seems to always happen when scrolling through slashdot comments. I press the middle mouse button to activate autoscroll, and then release the middle mouse button. However, after releasing the middle mouse button, the autoscroll icon stays on the screen and firefox continues to scroll, sometimes until l it reaches the end of the page.

Testing in Karmic with the kubuntu-desktop.

Did this problem appear before 3.5.4? Are you guys using KDE? If the answer to both questions is no, then this is a new issue.

This problem occurred before FF 3.5.4. I'm using Gnome/Metacity. The only similar issue I found was Bug #470671, which seemed to be discussing a similar issue. I'll mark as duplicate then. Cheers.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 437703, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
