normal text appears too light weight

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

All text being displayed is a "light" version of the normal text. Fonts should appear at the greater weight. The error produces irregularities in kerning also. Annoyance is not a serious bug, but it seems a notch above "cosmetic" imho.

The appears intermittently, and sometimes goes away if I log out and back in.

Hi grikdog, you're using an old version of firefox, do you know whether you've got the same bug within newer releases ?
e.g. Firefox 3.5 in Ubuntu 9.10 or 3.6 in the dev release 10.04?

I don't know. The inconvenience of upgrading Ubuntu 9.04 -> 9.10 will
probably be severe, so I haven't attempted it. My daughter's laptop is
System76 Lemur Ultrathin with Karmic, and she hasn't complained (after I
installed the Firefox ubuntu extras). I don't know what version Firefox
she has, but it came with the box from System76.

I would update to 3.6, but I hate to leave the Synaptic update path.

do you still have this issue with 3.6.11 and 10.10 ? if not I'd like to close this bug

Bug seems to be gone, or recent changes at least acceptable.
