Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Firefox, Shiretoko, Google Chrome browsers freezes when I click on "open file" "upload file" "browse" buttons on various webpages if the last used directory contains a named pipe file (fifo).

How to reproduce:
- create a fifo file in any directory (mkfifo new.fifo )
- login gmail or any other webmail program
- try to attach any file from the directory where the fifo was created.
---> the open file dialog window freezes forever.

Workarounds:
- delete the fifo
- write someting into the fifo file from terminal (echo Start > new.fifo)

It happens with 10.04.

It doesn't happen if you try to open the mkfifo (which has these permissions prw-r--r--) with gedit, bug it does happen if you open with eog.
I think it's the preview that crashes.

I filed a bug on gnome bugzilla, https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=623271, because I think it's quite important.
