Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Do you have either Metacity or Compiz installed?
You can try hitting F11 once or twice to see if that solves the issue.

Changed in firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

First of all the solution that you gave me does not fix this bug
permanently. when i restart firefox same problem occurs again.

I have not installed compiz or metacity.I have installed
nvidia-180-kernel-source as graphics driver, which gave me some of the
effects of compiz.Previously i have installed compiz on my computer and the
same problem occured there. Then I reinstalled Ubuntu again.

One more thing i have some problem regarding changing the screen resolution.
At present the resolution that i am using is 1280*1024 but when i change it
to, say 1024*768 then the quality of the graphics decreases significantly
like minimizing and maximizing effect, some of the desktop icon goes out of
screen etc.
