Cannot close firefox after update due to some small window appearing

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When I do an update of firefox, while firefox is still open, a message of update-manager appears telling me to restart firefox. But I cannot close firefox, because there appears a tiny empty firefox window, that is just the size of a small line (see screenshot). I have to resize it, close it and then I can close firefox.

The extensions I have installed are NoScript and Adblock Plus and I use the Gnash mozilla plugin.
