Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

9.04 Jaunty Jackalope

When computer comes out of sleep mode, cannot type into the input fields of firefox (url OR search), as every character that is typed is followed by selection of the window. You can type if you use the cursor key to deselect after each character typed. Note that I have selecturlwithsingleclick enabled to have similar to windows behaviour.

I've got the same problem on both my desktop and laptop. I'm also running Jaunty. Below are the steps to replicate the problem:

1. Load up Firefox
2. In the URL bar go to "about:config"
3. Click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button
4. In the search bar, type "browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll"
5. Double click the result to change from false to true (or leave as true)
6. Do nothing until your screensaver starts
7. Kill the screensaver (mouse move/key press)
8. Try typing an address in the URL bar in Firefox

You will only be able to type a couple characters before they are selected and overwritten by your next key strokes. If you set browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll back to false, the problem will go away. Does this happen to everybody? Or only select systems?

I also experience this problem

Ubuntu 9.04
Firefox version 3.5.4 from Ubuntuzilla

AgentWD-40, thanks for the instructions, they look promising! I'll try them out now.
