I have the same problem since 2 days : when I bookmark a new page or made some changes in my stored bookmarks, then close Firefox and reopen it, all the changes are gone, bookmarks are the same than there were last wednesday...

I tried to disable al the extensions, thinking perhaps problem was caused by an update of one of them, but same thing, new bookmarks are not saved.

Best regards.

I tried to remove localstore.rdf file in /home/user/.mozilla folder but it does not change anything.

I have the same problem. Any bookmarks or bookmark folders I make or the organization of them is lost the next time I open firefox. If I export the bookmarks they are recalled and I do not need to restore them. Seems their is some automatic store missing.
