The problem came from the HTML Validator extension and a bug with Firefox 3.0.9 (included in Jaunty).
Until Firefox 3.0.10 is out, it can be fixed by upgrading the extension to ver. 0.8.5.6.

So, not really an Ubuntu bug, sorry for the bug report.
