Expected Results
Firefox should have started upon clicking the Firefox icon.

Actual Results
Mouse cursor changed to "busy loading" icon. Mouse cursor eventually changed back to normal. Firefox did not start.

This was an upgrade from the previous version of Firefox (3.0.7?). It included add-ons such as:

- Flashblock
- Sun's Java plug-in
- Flash plug-in

After removing Flash, Java, CrystalFox_Qute, and Firebug, Firefox started to work again.

I don't know if it's related, but I'm also having problems with the latest firefox and firebug. Firefox seems to work OK, but in firebug if I disable a bit of css and then try to re-enable it, a chunk of the css dissapears, including the bit I was experimenting with.

Just installed 9.04 and firefox is behaving as described in this bug.

I can 'sudo firefox', that works.

I knew I was jumping the gun!

from /home/'user'
sudo chown -R user:user .mozilla/

Done!

Please do not ever do:
sudo firefox

That causes so many problems.

I have the same exact problem but none of the solutions I tried worked for me so far.

Tried removing .mozilla folder, uninstal and reinstall but nothing works. Tried loading it from console and all I get is "bus error".

Any advise will be good for now. Thanks

I am the only user and I did remove the folder in root using both console and GUI. Still got the same error. Thanks.

k, if you removed the folder in root, did root own it?

ie: Does root own the .mozzila folder in your home directory?

Yup, root did own the .mozilla folder. Still no progress. I ended up fresh reinstalling the whole system. Thanks for your help.

Root owned it because you ran firefox with sudo or su at one time

Yup, root owns the folder now.... why? I had to change from user to root before so I am very sure that root owns the .mozilla folder.
