cannot close firefox unless I completely shutdown my computer. OS ubuntu 8.10

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

no close icon at top right hand of firefox and all I get in statusn bar is the word done. Problem has only been evident since 19/02/09

Think the issue is related to Compiz.
Pressing F11 and then F11 again whilst in Firefox will return the toolbar.
