There were applications that wine couldn't properly emulate so I had to
downgrade to Windows. =(
If the applications weren't essential to what I do it wouldn't have been an
issue. Upgrading system. I'll undoubtibly dual-boot the system windows (10%
of drive) and Ubuntu (rest%) I just love Ubuntu so much more than
WindoZZzz,,,.... XD I will give an update then.

This only happens to me on this page:-

http://www.vsmt.co.uk/

I have never seen it before. The browser is not maximised. When the page is scrolled it just keeps overwriting the image and does not refresh it, so it just ends up a total mess of an image. But if you move the browser window by the title bar, it then gets refreshed/repainted and look normal again.

I also have this problem.
Scrolling with mousewheel, up/down-keys or by clicking scrollbar arrows causes tearing of the webpage.
Grabbing the scrollbar en scrolling by dragging the mouse works perfectly.
This happens on any webpage.

Turning of Compiz fixes the issue for me.

Did see the issue with XUbuntu 9.04 and earlier, with both Nvidea and ATI cards (both without Compiz). I'm now running a new system (ATI) with a fresh installed Ubuntu 10.04, without Compiz, and issue of autoscroll rendering issues seem to be solved.

Has the issue been fixed in 10.04?

Ubuntu 10.04 is fine on my machine (Nvidia 7300) using the Nvidia driver, no issues. Not tested this problem on the nouveau driver though as that has problems on my machine.
