Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

In the bookmarks menu, I created a folder. It appeared at the end of the bookmark list. I clicked on the folder with my left mouse button and attempted to move it near the other folder in the book mark menu, "Mozilla Firefox". I have a number of entries in the bookmark menu so it scrolls to reach the end. I tapped the "End" key to reach the end of the bookmark list quickly. I am able to start to move the folder, but the mouse icon changes and stops moving the folder. I did not figure out how to exit this mode. The only way I found to exit this mode it to use the hard-reset button on the computer and wait for reboot. I attempted to move the folder twice in this manner each time with the same result.

You probably receive this information with the report, but this is what About Mozilla Firefox says: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008111317 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.4. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 with all of the latest updates as of 12-14-08 and no other applications were running.

I suspect this is a bug in Firefox, but I do not know for sure. I did not file a bug report with Mozilla since I do not know the source of the bug. I am unfamiliar with were to find the log files and how to read them.

If this is really a feature, please direct me to information on how to use it. Thanks for your assistance.

ummm, i didn't read all this but isn't it better to use the 'Organise Bookmarks' Option when you have a long list of bookmarks.

Sorry, this is just a quick answer until i've read your full problem with this.

Good luck and happy hunting for the answer :)

Wow, that seems to be pretty comprehensive report on your packages. People normally just write 'Ubuntu 8.04 with FireFox 3.0.4' and wait for requests for further information specific to the problem. Good report though. Thanks for reporting bug, hopefully some-one knowledgeable will answer properly soon.

Good luck and have fun with Ubuntu :)

Tom,

After you replied, I tried the 'Organise Bookmarks' option and Firefox
did not freeze.

Thanks for your help.
