When the drop-down suggestions appear, ignore them and continue typing. I found this when I was not paying attention and did not notice the suggestions in time to stop.

Confirming this behavior in Jaunty development version of Xubuntu. If I continue typing, the suggestions will go away, but if I hit ESC after "http://" a third "/"is added and the resulting URL is wrong. |
