Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Each time I open Firefox, get the message 'firefox is offline-check work online and try again' Once online is checked, there is no problem, till i close firefox. When I open it the next time, I have to repeat the 'check work online'.
Why does the setting not get saved?

Cure is simple: quit using Firefox entirely. And in my case, quit using
Kubuntu, Ubuntu entirely. While configuring my router, firefox 3, with
latest update, Firefox goes off line. completely screws router configuration.
this in a system I had selected to install FF2 not FF3. Who chose to force
FF3 on me? FF or FFX was not chosen, FF2 was chosen.
Why does update to FF3 completely screw FF2? Why can I not revert to FF2?
Some damned conspiracy? Or what?

My bug was not duplicate of any other bug. My bug was fact that Firefox has
an off line mode, a useless damned off line mode that serves only 2 purposes;
1 to require us to select on line mode, 2 to drive us away from use of
Firefox completely.

Stupid programmers have required me to leave Kubuntu, to move to Debian for
above and following reasons:
System 1 monitor resolution can not be left at 1200 X 800 on one computer if
external monitor is connected. Externa monitor is useless due to stupid
changes of resolution repeated at each update.
System 2 monitor resolution can not be left at native 1920 X 1200 but must be
repaired after updates.
Kubuntu randomly choses to not allow access to USB drives.
Konsole can not be set to 111 X 72, black text on white. Each start of
Konsole is small white font on black screen, useless to my vision. WTF, why
offer settings that are ignored???
System notifications can not be set OFF and stay off. Some damned programmer
has determined I must have loud noises at each failed search, each failure of
any sort and to hell with my selection of silence. WTF, why offer settings
that are ignored???

This off line on line mode selection is just one symptom of stupid
programmers that want it their own stupid way and to hell with users.

Kubuntu is diseased with stupid programmers that require monitor power off to
be at 45 minutes and will not abide my selection of power off at 3 minutes.

firefox off line mode is just one of many symptoms of problem.
I do not know if problem is Kubuntu, KDE or Ubuntu, I do know I am sick of
it. Is the programmers goal to force me back to windiz or to force me to
learn every bit of Linux configurations to keep my setting intact, to keep my
computers from farting at me at every failed action? Must I learn to hand
configure X11 to keep screens at native resolution?

Who gains what from changing my screens from native resolution with each
update?
Who gains what from switching on loud offensive noises with each update?
Who gains what from changing permissions to access USB and external HDDs with
each update?
Hell will be full of lawyers and programmers.

I had the same problem using Kubuntu 8.04 and KDE 3.59. The problem I had was that I was using the WL Assistant and Network Manager. With my son's help we removed the WL Assistant and Network Manager, and installed WICD and the problem was fixed!
