I've experienced a similar problem. All my navigation buttons were greyed out and it seemed as if all my settings weren't being loaded. I would get a blank page upon load. Turns out some of my files in my .mozilla directory were owned by root. I solved it with a quick "sudo chown -R user:user ~/.mozilla" where "user" is your username.

Yup, all bookmarks disappeared. I had previously been running Firefox using sudo trying to debug another problem I've been having. Needless to say I didn't fix much by doing what I did ;D Still new to this whole bug hunting thing.

We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
