Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

The paragraph "This browser was previously known as Firefox 2, Firebird and Phoenix." should be removed. Rationale: Firefox has been around under that name for some years now. Those who care about the old names "Firebird" and "Phoenix" already know, or, if they are studying history, can easily find out. Saying "This browser was previously known as Firefox 2" is just silly: first, it's not true, as "Firefox 3" was never known as "Firefox 2", and secondly, users are in general familiar with the concept of version numbers, and understand that "Firefox 3" is a later version of the program "Firefox" than "Firefox 2". If this part of the paragraph made sense, think of what you'd need for Emacs: "This editor was previously known as Emacs 22.1, Emacs 21.4, Emacs 21.3, Emacs 21.2, Emacs 21.1, Emacs 20.7,...". If you are really serious about this, then you've missed one: "This browser was previously known as Firefox 2, Firefox, Firebird and Phoenix."!

If for some reason you think the old names ought to be kept, then simply change the paragraph back to "This browser was previously known as Firebird and Phoenix."

I think we should still mention Firebird and Phoenix in the description. This will allow people who search for those names to find firefox. However, I see no need to mention firefox 2 as a previous name.

This patch should wait a little while for Intrepid as 3.0.1 should be
pushed after freeze is lifted, as i recall Alexander was pretty much
done with it and i think Hardy already got it or will be shortly as well.
