One could argue that this is the new way of firefox behaving. Anyway,
maybe there is a bug open for this in bugzilla.mozilla.org. If you
could take a look and drop potential bug ids for this issue it would
be much appreciated.

I have tried searching there, and found nothing that comes up in my searches. Perhaps you will have better luck searching.

If this is considered intended behavior of firefox, then I will not be returning to the product. To not be able to access internal websites because the browser thinks all websites need the www is complete stupiditiy.

for me it works. e.g. just typing "localhost" will bring me to
http://localhost/, maybe its fixed in RC1.

Let us know once you retrieve that update or test the packages now
from hardy-propsed archive.

no clue. considering I gave a detailed description of what I was doing and
was basicly told thats how it is supposed to work, I uninstalled adn
switched browsers. The old version of firefox didn't operate the same, and
since I need the ability to navigate to local addresses, i cant use a
browser that adds stuff to my url.
