Nope. Downloading to the Desktop.

My suspicion is that the Firefox code structure does not permit the 'cancel'
function while the download is being initialized - and - the initialize
isn't marked as 'complete' since there isn't room for the download, hence it
cannot be canceled AND it can't be downloaded - locking the download into
the list, effectively.

I deleted a large folder that I have a backup copy of - the download started
and THEN I was able to click on the 'red circle X' and sucessfully cancel
the download - once it was in progress.

So I have a work around for you (and me!) - at least for those who can free
up enough space for the selected download(!).

The bug remains in Firefox however... :-(

So your disc was 100% full when you started the download?

A disk status display showed 100% full. There was still room, a little, but
certainly not enough for this file to have space allocated for it.

Could you try to reproduce it and look what you see in tools -> error
console when the cancel button gets broken?

'reproduce it' -> Not easily. My backup is at a different house (security)
so I can't restore the deleted stuff easily, and guests coming this week and
my travelling next week make it unlikely I'll have the opportunity to spend
time on re-creating the problem until early June.

I'll get back to you then.
