firefox freezes after some browsing

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

With Ubuntu 8.04 and Firefox 3.0 beta 5 (3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3).

After some time browsing, firefox freezes. I've noticed a very intensive disk and CPU activity at this point. This happens while closing the browser also.

At the termina I can see messages such as:

** Message: GetValue variable 1 (1)
** Message: GetValue variable 2 (2)

With firefox 2 this doesn't happen.
