Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

It worked well on Vista Firefox 2, but for some reason now it says 'There was a problem with your login and the full version could not be loaded.'.

The full version just makes use of a lot of AJAX just like Yahoo and Gmail. But Yahoo and Gmail work.

I go back to Vista and it still works there.

Weird bug! :)

Release: Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 (development branch)

Package Version:
Installed: 3.0~b4+nobinonly-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
     3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu2 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
 *** 3.0~b4+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I expected the full AJAX version of Hotmail to load up

It didn't. :)
"You are temporarily on the classic version of Windows Live Hotmail due to an error encountered during login. Before trying again, please clear your cache and cookies."

And yeah I tried it...

this is because hotmail is blocking linux (for what i heard).
the solution is install the user agent switcher addon, and switch the identity to IE.

This is not a Firefox bug. Please ask Microsoft to change this if it really bothers you. I dont have an issue logging into my live hotmail account from Linux Mac or Windows using Firefox-2 and 3

Changed in firefox-3.0:
status: New → Invalid

It's not from Microsoft. It's a Firefox bug, because it works well on Opera on Ubuntu Hardy

Its a microsoft bug. they should not explicitly blacklist linux
users. if they do its their bug and pretending that we are "windows"
is not something we will do.

It has something to do with Java I believe....

When logging into Hotmail "Windows Live".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Upgrade your web browser
We recommend that you upgrade your web browser so you can get the most out of Windows Live Hotmail. Upgrading should only take a few minutes. To get started, choose one of the browsers below:

    * Microsoft Internet Explorer
    * Mozilla Firefox
    * Apple Safari

If you don't want to upgrade right now you can still continue to Windows Live Hotmail, but some parts of it may not work and it may not be displayed properly.
Got a mobile device? Check your e-mail by going to http://mobile.live.com/hm.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On Firefox 3.03 and Ubuntu 8.04.

WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO GET BACK TO CLASSIC HOTMAIL.
There is no way after you accept the new Live version.

Hope this gets fixed soon... I'm not able to send out mail at all.

A kind of solution :to change the value in FF config :
In the URL address bar type : about:config
Confirm that you want to access the config
Then locate the entry general.useragent.vendor
Change the value to Firefox

This works on (K)Ubuntu Hardy/Intrepid, where the original value is "Ubuntu" ...
HTH

This worked for me in mandriva 2009 and ubuntu 8.04
