Artifacts in gmail text editor

Bug #207821 reported by Cory Dodt

firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu)
Fix Released
Undecided
Mozilla Bugs

Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Package: firefox 3.0~b4+nobinonly-0ubuntu1

Scrolling in the rich text editor in Gmail is producing extremely ugly artifacts. This doesn't occur in other rich text editors I use around the websphere (e.g. moinmoin does not do this).

When the window is repainted or even loses focus, the artifacts disappear.

Expected: Scrolling to be smooth and artifact-free.

Actual: Attached screenshot.

Description: Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release: 8.04

can you provide us with an example url where we can reproduce this?

I only know that it happens in Gmail consistently. Edit a new email. Might possibly be easier to reproduce if you're viewing Gmail at 100% zoom (i.e. no larger or smaller than normal).

CVory have you seen it get fixed in our version? can you please giv eme changelog that mozilla used when they fixed this? Mainly what im looking for is complete version of upstrream build that they fixed this in as well as what they did to fix it incase we have to add it in. If its fixed in our version than that info isnt needed.
I also need the bug number for upstream bug if you have it.

Hi John,

Looks like I'll be switching back to Ubuntu's version. I'm editing this
email right now in gmail in Ubuntu FF3 and no artifacts. So no need to
check upstream, we are good.
