Bug Description
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
I am using latest Kubuntu Hardy and my Firefox 3 Beta 3 takes 15 minutes to start, if it starts at all. Even then if I click on any menu the browser hangs for another 15 minutes before it becomes usable.
I have tired with many pre-release versions of Firefox 3 - Beta 2, Beta 3, many nightlies. I have obtained them form different sources - the official ubuntu repository, the fta ppa repository and the official mozilla site.
In the console once it showed some GTK Engine errors (which I cannot reproduce now), but now I get nothing.
Running it through gbd also gave no errors.
I have tired removing all profiles, extentions and plugins of previous installations. I have also tired removing the GTK-Qt engine, but it also had no effect.
I recently installed several GTK/Gnome packages and this apparently fixed to issue, unfortunately I did not figure out which exactly. removed/ altered during the upgrade to Hardy.
I reinstalled my distribution I checked that a newly installed Kubuntu Hardy alpha system has all the components that are required to run Firefox 3 without any issue out-of-the-box. It is interesting to note that Firefox 3 beta 2 worked on my Kubuntu Gutsy and stopped immediately after I upgraded to Hardy Alpha 4. Therefore it seems that I myself had removed one of these GTK/Gnome packages that are of such importance that it is trivial not to or it was deprecated/
Please mark this report as invalid or add to the list of dependencies that/those package(s) (unless it is too basic and no one else could do my mistake).
