I've hit this problem now and did some searches on google as I suspected this was a browser bug and it finally brought me to this page. I've read the emails from 2002 to recently and am confused as to if this is fixed or not in some version of FF out there (I'm using 2.0.0.4 and is not working so ossibly the fix might be pre-release if that is the terminology here). Could someone explain in plain English the following please as I'm new here :-

1. Has the bug been fixed ?
2. If it has been fixed is it likely to be in a public release sometime soon ?
3. If it has been fixed will it be applied as a patch ?

I ask as am developing an Ajax management app with modal popups with data entry screens with splitter screens and whole app fails due to the above. If it's not likely to be fixed in a public version I will have to consider a different design. I can't get any of the workarounds to work.
