Bug Description

Since upgrading to 18.10 filezilla fails to connect to sites the require explicit FTP over TLS:

tatus: Connecting to 1.2.3.4:56789...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Initializing TLS...
Error: GnuTLS error -50 in gnutls_priority_set_direct: The request is invalid.
Error: Failed to initialize TLS.
Error: Could not connect to server

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/filezilla/+bug/1798767 says it is fixed wince 2019-01-09, but the package still hasn't been updated in the repository. As I don't know comments are sent away when an issue is closed I report it again.

The issue was fixed upstream in FileZilla 3.39 which is included in Ubuntu 19.04 which became available since this bug report was raised.

Had the problem occurred in an LTS release you may have seen the fix backported but that is unlikely to happen (now) with Ubuntu 18.10 which is only supported now for just over two more months.
