$ file -v

magic file from /etc/magic:
I found that EPUB file was identified by file utility as 'data'. On the other side, I see that other EPUB files are identified correctly.
Correct result:
$ file "Miroslav Zamboch - Navsteva u psychiatra.epub"
Miroslav Zamboch - Navsteva u psychiatra.epub: Zip archive data, at least v1.0 to extract
Failed result:
$ file VTM.cz_2011_01.epub
VTM.cz_
