although i can't create a zip file within Nautilus through context menu or by drag'n dropping a file into a file-roller window and selecting zip, it worked following instructions concerning valgrind ("Start the program under control of memcheck") !

could you install libglib2.0-0-dbg and get a new gdb log? the valgrind log has no crash
