Bug Description

Binary package hint: file-roller

version 2.26.1 on jaunty.

Drag and Drop mode becomes enabled if an item is highlighted and the mouse moves. It seems that normal behaviour would require the mouse button to be depressed.

eg.
when navigating the structure of an archive the UI enters drag and drop mode -- cursor changes. when clicking on items. the mode remains enabled until another item is clicked, or enter is pressed.

I have not been able to isolate the cause.

I've noticed this in particular when navigating java src archives which tend to have many folders to drill through. May be a result of clicking too fast???

When I am navigating through an archive it seems to inadvertently go into drag and drop mode. An entry must be highlighted for this to happen, but it doesn't necessarily happen when an item is highlighted. Once this has happened it will continue to happen if an item is highlighted. so if you were to right click on an item and cancel the context menu the item will remain highlighted and dnd mode is enabled.

I get this all the time on all archives I've used for months.
It's extremely annoying and for me makes File Roller almost unusable.
Does anyone know a replacement for file roller?

It completely buggers up trying to do anything.
Even exiting the program or clicking any menu item gets sticky and you have to click extra times to release the icon from the mouse. You can't click another file until you click on the menu somewhere to release the DND icon.

I can't believe this is low priority - for months I've been struggling with this.
I guess others don't get this but I can say for me it ALWAYS happens and makes the program useless.

If you want more details of my OS etc. just ask.
It's been doing the same for as long as I an recall. This means at least back to 9.04, currently 9.10.
My File Roller is 2.28.1.

I still get the problem, it seems to me that it's a sensitivity issue. The
mouse may move a bit while the primary button is pressed. I work around the
problem by using the context menu to navigate the archive.

This bug is easily reproducible. Just do a fast triple click and volia! File roller opens your folder that you triple clicked. And selects hovered item of subdirectory. For some reason also it's stuck in DND mode! I think this bug is only affects fast clicking users. Very annoying and should be in higher priority.
