Bug Description

Binary package hint: file-roller

When I tring to add symlinks to folders to my archive File-roller includes that folders to the archive and as far as I can see there is no way to just archive symlinks. And if symlinks are recursive Fileroller makes archives with recursive folders and then complains while unpacking ("Not a folder" many times).

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/file-roller
NonfreeKernelModules: ath_hal nvidia
Package: file-roller 2.24.1-0ubuntu2
SourcePackage: file-roller
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-11-generic x86_64

that's somewhat similar to bug #124992

Changed in file-roller:

The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (

There is a meta-bug upstream already for symlink issues:

Furthermore, if you delete a symlink pointing to a directory from the archive, every file in the linked directory OUTSIDE the archive gets deleted!
