Wonder if this is just the Xv crash bug in 8.911.

Alberto uploaded a new fglrx 8.960 to precise today. We don't have a changelog from ATI on this so don't know exactly what bugs got fixed. Would you mind updating to this driver and re-testing for this bug, to see if it's fixed now?

On the off chance that this bug got fixed but other problems crop up, close this report and file new bug reports via 'ubuntu-bug fglrx-installer', so we can track them against the new version.

Changed in fglrx-installer (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Hi Bryce,

Thanks for looking into this issue.

After getting so many system crashes I reverted back to Ubuntu 10.04 ,in fear of getting my hard disk corrupted, where this issue not there. I use default driver (no fglrx) and the system is quite stable. If you want I can give you logs or information of this system with Ubuntu 10.04 for "reference" so that it can be compared and stable release is made in future.

Alright, well I'm fairly sure it's the Xv bug which is now closed.

"XID Collision" has something to do with flash or javascript when I open some site. This is causes Xorg to crash completely.

Your Xorg log looks like you're using the open-source Radeon driver, not Fglrx.

Trust me, installing fglrx also causes crash and that too frequently. Seeing so I installed open-source Radeon driver. The problem is something else. I don't have much knowledge otherwise I could debug more.

You need to see this
http://askubuntu.com/questions/106499/flash-player-crashes-with-firefox-chrome-chromium
But in my case, the whole system crashes and restarts which is quite bad.

Referring to other forums, gives in-depth information , may be more helpful to you.

Because of this issue, I could not install Ubuntu 10.10,11.04,11,10 and NOW 12.04. C'mon !!!
