Bug Description

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
Release: 12.04

This is fresh upgrade from oniric to precice. The Oniric install had no problems running tvtime mplayer or vlc. Whenever any of these application accesses the tvcard using fglrx drivers the display crashes to login. For example if I start tvime, the application opens normally but then switches to fullscreen and then immediately closes. This occurs even if I run with a -M switch which instructs tvtime to run in window.
This does not occur with the radeon/mesa drivers. I tried both the fglrx:2:8.911-0ubuntu2 and built from installer package fglrx:2:8.930-0ubuntu1. This did not occur with previous version of xorg prior to earlier in the week.

Can fglrx be reverted in repos to version 11.8 the one in oneiric?

Downgrading fglrx would not help; the earlier binary driver has ABI incompatibility with 1.11 and won't work at all.

The issue is known and will be fixed prior to the Precise release.
