Bug Description
I have Ubuntu 11.10 with an ATI HD 4330 and the following packages (all from official Ubuntu repo):
libva1: 1.0.12-2; libva-dev: 1.0.12-2; xvba-va-driver: 0.7.8-1ubuntu1; fglrx: 2:8.881-0ubuntu4.1
$ vainfo
libva: libva version 0.32.0
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
xvba_video: XVBA_CreateCont
libva error: /usr/lib/
libva: va_openDriver() returns -1
vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit
I was able to make video acceleration work with packages from www.splitted-
Bug #773466 and bug #642907 are similar but they are related to the nvidia driver.
