The graphics drivers in Ubuntu 11.04 do not support kernels 3.x. The only solution to this is to either upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 where the new drivers work with the included kernel 3.0, or to downgrade your kernel in Ubuntu 11.04 to version 2.6.38 that it is designed to use.
