Bug Description
fglrx consistently fails to install on new Lucid installation. Install is fine with kernel 2.6.32-21, but after update to 2.6.32-24, fglrx no longer works and will not reinstall. This has happened twice on a clean install of Lucid. Reinstalling dependencies does not fix the problem. Installation from Hardware Drivers, Synaptic, and CLI (apt-get) all fail.

After some testing, the problem seems to be related to kernel 2.6.32-24.
After a clean install from the lucid iso, I installed the fglrx driver through Hardware Drivers and it installed fine, everything working after reboot. Then, without installing any other updates, I installed linux-headers- 2.6.32- 23, linux-headers- 2.6.32- 23, and linux-image- 2.6.32- 23-generic. The fglrx driver continued to work fine. I then installed linux-headers- 2.6.32- 24, linux-headers- 2.6.32- 24-generic, and linux-image- 2.6.32- 24. After reboot, the fglrx error occurred (error reported by Ubuntu, could not enter administrative Catalyst Control Center, user Catalyst Control Center has most options disabled). I removed the 2.6.32-24 kernel, booting back into 2.6.32 and the fglrx was fine again.
