When exporting the application Processing creates a shell script and couple of jars so the application can be run independently of the Processing IDE. Attached is an archive of the application and JARs.

The X server crashing has to be a driver issue or an X server issue, an X client cannot (ideally) crash the server.

I am also seeing this issue. The mouse still moves around, but the whole display ceases to redraw. Also just before this happens (when the app first stars) the screen flickers for a few seconds in a really nasty strobe-like way.

This crash can be recovered from by switching to a different virtual tty (ctrl+alt+f1) and killing the offending process.
