Bug Description

I have a TouchSmart tm2 2000el with an i3 and a HD5450. I had to install Ubuntu on a USB pen drive (16GB). I chose the 64 bit version. I installed the proprietary driver of the ATI HD5450 and it said me to restart the system. After the restart, even when I try the rescue mode I cannot load properly Ubuntu because the screen is black, not even illuminated, totally powered off. When I press ctrl+alt+del I see the normal Ubuntu loading splash screen and then the system restart.

The Ubuntu version is the 10.04 x86_64 without any update done.

I solved loading a live pen with Ubuntu and commenting the Driver line in the xorg.conf file and then I installed the last version of the drivers from the AMD/ATI site. And leaving disabled the driver in the "Hardware Drivers"

I'd like to more precise: I modified the xorg.conf in order to make X do not use the ATI drivers. Then, for other causes I had to reinstall. I reinstalled and never said to enable the ATI driver. Now I have the AWN bar working as well as with graphics driver. The ATI card seems to be disabled. The 15th septh. ATI released new drivers. In few days I'll try them after a proper backup.
