You're using Xserver 1.8. Version 1.8 is not supported by the driver yet.

It worked before my latest update.
If that version is not supported by one of the most important drivers, why did Update Manager installed that?

Check your apt sources. Maybe you're using some non-standard apt repository that already has Xserver 1.8.

I looked for xserver packages in cydia and finally found the problem: a newer version of the xorg server was installed from local source. I did not remember about it, but is just 'forced' the lucid version and reinstalled 'ubuntu-desktop' and 'fglrx' packages, and it worked. Thanks!
