Bug Description

Hello.

This is in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (RC).

After installing the "fglrx-amdcccle"-package, I get two links in "Applications - Accessories" (My setup is in Norwegian, so I'm taking a guess on the names here...):
- ATI Catalyst Control Center
- ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrative)

But the "Administrative"-link does not work. I get the error (And again, I'll have to translate this from Norwegian):
"Could not start <<ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrative)>>. Error while running under-process <<amdxdg-su>> (No such file or directory)".

It is trying to execute the command: "amdxdg-su -c amdcccle" , but 'amdxdg-su' does not exist on my system.

I guess it should read "gksu amdcccle" ??

Kind regards from Norway,
Jørn.

This also affects me. I hope Ubuntu replaces amdxdg-su with gksudo soon.

To fix this bug run, in a terminal:

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/amdccclesu.desktop

Then, in gedit, replace "amdxdg-su -c amdcccle" with "gksudo amdcccle".

This should be the default, instead of a command that doesn't even exist.

Does that workaround work for everyone? I did it but for some reason every time I boot I'm running at 30hz and have to change it to 60 every time. I thought that might be caused by doing "gksudo amdcccle" instead of "amdxdg-su -c amdcccle"?

This is fixed in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid LTS (RC) installed and updated today.

Its a bit funny that this bug is still marked as "New" without anyone assigned to it. Does this mean that nobody actually reads the bugs coming in, except those affected by them? :\

Setting to fix released based on the last comment. Glad this is fixed.

Jorno: don't be hard on them, I'm sure they're putting a lot of effort to make Ubuntu better. And your bug got fixed didn't it?

Changed in fglrx-installer (Ubuntu):

Adam: Yeah, sorry, you're right. I don't want to demand anything. Just got a bit frustrated last night, finding out how many bugs I experienced in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, and then finding out how many of the bugreports I'm involved in which didn't have any progress or comment. But I agree, the people working on Ubuntu really makes a very good job. ;)
