Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-control-
I was switching resolutions to test a website, and noticed my computer got sluggish everytime a new resolution is applied. The current workaround for me is to switch to /dev/tt1 (or any other terminal) and then get back to X.

Thank you for your bug report, are you sure it's gnome-display- properties eating cpu and not xorg? do you get the issue using xrandr on the command line too?
