Same issue with 9.04 on my Gateway NVU53 (ATI HD 4200)..The maximizing and minimizing results in choppy screen and ends up freezing the whole system.I have no other choice but,switch to a terminal console and then do a reboot.I really dont want to disable the desktop effects.I really love them and by disabling them I see another issue,minimizing and maximizing,shows the border frame of the window and which is really irritating.
