Just applied the latest patch, and I also am no longer observing the slowness. If I notice anything else strange that seems to have come with the patch, I'll add another comment.

Felix: Thank you! This has been driving me nuts since upgrading to jaunty.

For the record my hardware is an HD3400 in a dell studio 1537
